Bitwarden: CNET's top password manager is a highly secure and open-source LastPass alternative.Though this doesn't change the threat level to the stolen vaults, it's still prudent to help mitigate the threats of any potential future attack - that is, if you decide you want to stay with LastPass. That means even if someone ends up obtaining your new password, they shouldn't be able to gain access to a given site without your secondary authenticating device (typically your phone).ĥ. Just close that tab and the web browser tab you opened via the exstension will remain active. You can no longer open a web browser window and type the Lastpass web address and have the launch buttons work.Īs a side note, if you had already logged into Laspass in a web browser window/tab, it will automatically log you out of that window. The launch buttons then are activated to launch to your site. The extension will then open your vault in a new web browser tab. When it's red, left click the button and a mini menu will come up and click open my vault. If that box is grey, you are not logged in and the launch buttons are not active. The little button is a box with 3 little dots in it. I use Google Chrome and you can find this button next to the area where you would type in a website. You instead need to log into your account using the Lastpass web extension. If you are logged into Lastpass via a tab in your web browser the launch buttons will not work.
