It feels almost between latex and memory foam in the best way. It's soft enough that it doesn't cause ear pain and it doesn't get too hot. Tuft & Needle Foam Pillow - I wanted this one to work so bad. I gave it to my husband who is quite a bit larger than me, and it his favorite pillow. Also even with it seeming too soft, it made my ear hurt. So I exchanged it for a medium and it was way softer and I just could not get comfortable with it. It had a good level of firmness but was way to tall for my neck. Purple Harmony - I bought this at a Denver Mattress store and they only had the tall in stock and I wanted it right away. The core of it is pretty firm though and I got ear pain from it. I really liked the shoulder cutout and it was a good loft for me. Therapedic Shoulder Contour Bed Pillow - This one wasn't terrible. Hurt my ear and just was not comfortable. I like it stayed cool and the level of neck support and that's it. Purple Pillow - Recommended by a friend who hated the COOP pillow. Also, even though I returned it a couple of months ago, I'm still finding filling all over my house from adjusting it all the time. If I put it at the support level I want, it's too tall. If I put it at the proper height, its too soft. The height to width ratio to get the support I need has changed. They only come in queen and king now, so I bought a queen, and its not the same at all. However, it got ruined when I washed it, so I bought a new one. Here is my review of several pillows I've tried so far.Ĭoop Eden - This pillow worked for me for a couple of years when I got in the standard size. I cover all my pillows in a silk pillowcase, too, so cover material isn't that important to me as long as I don't feel it through the cover. I would say it's still pretty soft though. I have a king-size soft-side waterbed (the kind of bed that is a foam frame with a water core) and a firm latex topper. This means super firm pillows don't work for me. I also have TMJ and am prone to ear pain at night. I have had neck issues for years, likely due to having a job where I'm at a desk all day. I sleep on my side mostly, though I do occasionally roll onto my back. Broad shoulders for my size from years of weight lifting, but not more broad than average. I'm in my early 40s, am 5'3.5", and about 135 lbs. I figured I should share my findings in case someone else finds them helpful. I've been lurking around here for months trying to find a pillow to help my neck, back and TMJ/ear pain issues. I find that the fill moves around too much, and they trap heat more than some types of solid foam pillows. The pillows I'm not interested in are any shredded foam. Other ones I'm interested in are the Sleep Number Responsefit Ultimate Contour Pillow (I like that Responsefit foam in the curved pillow, it just wasn't enough loft for me), and the Nolah Airfoam pillow. Open-cell foam traps less heat and has a higher response/bounce back from pressure. This tells me my favorite pillows are open-cell foam pillows that have the texture of a soft sponge as opposed to closed-cell memory foam which has the texture of sticky dough. My third would be the Casaluna Foam Pillow from Target but it's firmer than the Pillow Cube unless I take it out of its case. It's just not comfortable if I roll onto my back. There was a big adjustment period with it but it feels the best on my shoulders out of all the pillows I have tried. My second favorite is the Pillow Cube Pro in the 5" loft. I didn't like it at first because it's super firm, but really is the perfect size for me, doesn't get too hot and I've gotten used to it and have had quality sleep on it. My current favorite is the Pluto Pillow which is a hybrid pillow with a fiberfill outer layer and a Serene foam core. Unfortunately, Leesa got bought out by the same company that owns Brooklyn Bedding and changed all their pillows to the same ones Brooklyn Bedding sells. It's the Leesa Premium Foam Pillow and I've been using it for 1.5 years now but it has started to wear down. UPDATE: I get a lot of questions about which my favorite has been so I'll put it here at the top. I also added a loft measurement for the pillows I actually measured. Things like the weight of your head or the firmness of your mattress/sleeping surface will change how firm a pillow feels. I filled out the firmness column, however, keep in mind this all subject to how the pillows felt to me. See newest reviews at the bottom: u/pspr33 kindly put all my reviews in a spreadsheet.

Merlin 2 and FastTrack Schedule show a different level of maturity in that regard. It's evident that Omni's strength resides in superb visual design and ease of use, but for this first version Omni lacked the focus of a true Project Management company. Having said this, I've never chosen OmniPlan for any of my projects. For simple projects OmniPlan may be more than sufficient. My overall impressions of OmniPlan have not changed. I'm pretty sure that version 2 is going to be a huge improvement over version 1, which is the one I'm rating (1.6.1). I would not be surprised if version 2 comes out in 2009 with a new price and an upgrade fee for current users. To me they make more sense than comments such as "OmniPlan is the best PM solution for Mac" or "This program is a friggin masterpiece."įortunately for Omni, there are people who will pay $150 for OmniPlan. I have a lot of respect for AMBERV, and highly recommend reading her comments below. A quick guesstimate is that they've been mostly fixes, and eventually 1.5 did bring some new features: In two years, OmniPlan has certainly gone through various improvements. Two years ago I wrote some comments about OmniPlan. People with simple PM needs will probably enjoy OmniPlan, but for the same price there are better, more robust alternatives out there. For now, FastTrack Schedule and Merlin are clearly a better choice, and Merlin costs the same as OmniPlan 2. In terms of features and value I can't rate this higher that 2 stars. No problems with ease of use or stability. I tried the "Scale to Fit Project" option only to discover there's no Undo for this. Merlin offers an additional view (Net Plan). Merlin had a much cleaner view of the project, and this applies to Tasks or Activities, Resources, and Calendar. It did open the MPP file of the same project, and that was a bit quicker than Merlin. Merlin opened the file in about 2 seconds. Version 2.0.3 was unable to open a MS Project MPX file, both using File>Open and dragging the file to OmniPlan. "Also new and notable! We’re getting started on multi-project support." Fortunately, the Omni people addresed this issue in a recent () blog post: If you were toying with trying out this system and you haven't committed to an app yet, check out Merlin over OmniPlan. If asking a simple question resulted in frowny faces, no doubt my review will be unpopular among the fanboyz. You can brainstorm a plan in several different ways and then quickly turn it into a schedule. Merlin is much more intuitive than OmniPlan, easier to input projects into, more flexible and it also adds Kanban Boards and Mind Maps into the mix. Merlin Project may not have the fun animated tutorial videos of its competitor, but it beats it in every other category. And I found one, and it's a lot better and cheaper (while still not being actually cheap). OmniPlan responded pretty quickly to an email and have put in place a temporary fix while they patch the update.īut for the day or so while it wasn't working, I went searching for an alternative. As Sod's Law would have it, OmniPlan duly crashed out on me a couple of days ago - an App Store update locked me out of the Pro features, while frustratingly acknowledging that yes, I had bought the upgrade and yes, I was entitled to use the features, it still wouldn't let me in. In that post, I talked about OmniPlan as the bedrock of my organisational "system". Some scholars believe that Garden II in the elderly can be treated with cannulated screw internal fixation, while some recommend hip arthroplasty because Garden II is complete FNF and osteoporosis exits in the elderly, which result in high rate of nonunion and femoral head necrosis after internal fixation. Most scholars believe that Garden I is incomplete FNF, and can be treated by cannulated screw internal fixation, while there is much controversy over the treatment of Garden II in the elderly. However, the treatment of incomplete FNF or undisplaced FNF (Garden I and II) still remains controversial. Currently, orthopedic surgeons prefer hip arthroplasty for treating displaced FNF (Garden III and IV). The type of fractures is one of the important factors determining the treatment programs. Such fractures are rarely treated conservatively, but usually treated by cannulated screw internal fixation, femoral head arthroplasty or total hip arthroplasty. Totally 4.5 million elderly people worldwide become disabled due to hip fractures every year, including about 1.7 million patients with FNF. The incidence rate of femoral neck fractures (FNF) is high, especially in the elderly. In the elderly, all undisplaced femoral neck fracture may be Garden II, no Garden I. There was low consistency and repeatability in 4 types Garden classification (I, II, III and IV), while 3 types Garden classification (I + II, III and IV) had high consistency among observers. All surgical cases showed complete fracture during operation. Totally 52 patients were diagnosed as Garden I, 38 of whom underwent arthroplasty. 3 types Garden classification showed almost perfect agreement inter- and intraobservers, which ranged from 0.76 to 0.90. Resultsįour types Garden classification, there was little consistency inter- and intraobservers (Kappa from 0.18 to 0.43) based on X-ray images, while professors consistency (0.56 to 0.76) was higher than residents (0.28 to 0.35) based on CT. The patients with Garden I incomplete FNF confirmed by 8 observers together based on images combined with medical history were compared with the intraoperative results. Kappa was used to measure inter- and intraobserver agreement. Three months later, The exercise was repeated and the results were compared based on 4 types Garden classification (I, II, III and IV) and 3 types Garden classification (I + II, III and IV). X-ray and CT images from 886 elderly patients with FNF were collected, four orthopaedic surgeons and four radiologists evaluated these images independently, and determined the fracture type based on Garden classification. The aim of this study was to evaluate the stability and consistency of Garden classification based on X and CT images, and to analyze whether it is valid for Garden I in the elderly. Garden classification is commonly used in the clinic, but its stability and consistency remain controversial. Accurate classification of femoral neck fracture (FNF) is crucial for treatment plan and therapeutic outcomes. When FBI's lead singer left the band, and Morris left to concentrate on his career in hairdressing, Astley offered to be the lead vocalist. They were a well-known local band writing and performing their own music, gigging in pubs and clubs. In 1985, Astley was performing as a drummer with a soul band named FBI, with Morris on guitar. Career 1985–1986: Signing with Stock Aitken Waterman After leaving school at sixteen, Astley was employed during the day as a driver in his father's market-gardening business and played drums on the Northern club circuit at night in bands such as Give Way – specialising in covering Beatles and Shadows songs – and FBI, which won several local talent competitions. ĭuring his schooldays, Astley formed and played the drums in a number of local bands, where he met guitarist David Morris. When he was 10 years old, Astley began singing in a local church choir, which began his love of music. After finding out that his father was the one who kicked his mother out of the house, Astley distanced himself from his father. Astley remained in very close contact with his mother Cynthia Astley, who lived a few streets away from his father. His parents divorced when he was five and Astley was brought up by his father Horace Astley. Early lifeĪstley was born on 6 February 1966 in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, the fourth child of his family. His song "Never Gonna Give You Up" reached 1 billion views on YouTube in July 2021, becoming the fourth 1980s song to reach this milestone. A year after the Rickrolling meme began, Astley was voted "Best Act Ever" by Internet users at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2008. īy the time of his brief retirement, Astley had sold approximately 40 million records worldwide. His most recent albums were recorded at his home studio in Surrey. He released his most recent studio album Beautiful Life in 2018, and released his greatest hits album The Best of Me in 2019. Six years later, he released his album 50 to celebrate his 50th birthday, which debuted in the UK at No. 1. In 2010, Astley released the single " Lights Out" after touring with Peter Kay. Four years later, Astley released his covers album Portrait.Īstley became an Internet phenomenon in 2007 when the music video for his song "Never Gonna Give You Up" became integral to the Rickrolling meme, and his performance career was revitalised by the meme's popularity. He returned to the music industry in 2000, and released the single " Sleeping" and the album Keep It Turned On in 2001. In 1993, Astley retired from music to focus on spending time with his partner and raising their daughter. His 1991 single " Cry for Help" was Astley's last single to reach the top 10 in either the US or UK. In 1991, Astley left Stock Aitken Waterman and moved his musical direction away from dance-pop and towards soul, which he explored on his albums Free (1991) and Body and Soul (1993). The lead single " She Wants to Dance with Me" was Astley's first single that he wrote himself, and it became a worldwide top 10 hit. In 1988, Astley followed-up his debut album with Hold Me In Your Arms. The title track was a No 1 single in seven countries, and it reached No 3 in the UK. His 1988 single "Together Forever" became his second single to top the US Billboard Hot 100, and was one of his eight songs to reach the top ten on the UK Singles Chart. His debut single "Never Gonna Give You Up" was a number 1 hit single in 25 countries, winning the 1988 Brit Award for Best British Single. Three years later, he rose to fame through his association with the production trio Stock Aitken Waterman releasing the 1987 album Whenever You Need Somebody, which sold 15.2 million copies worldwide. īorn and raised in Lancashire, Astley became a musician after leaving school, as the drummer for the soul band FBI. Outside his music career, Astley has occasionally worked as a radio DJ and a podcaster. He returned to music full-time in the 2000s after a 6-year hiatus. He gained worldwide fame in the 1980s, having multiple hits, including his signature songs " Together Forever", " Whenever You Need Somebody" and especially " Never Gonna Give You Up". Richard Paul Astley (born 6 February 1966) is an English singer who has been active in music for several decades. He attempts to move on a dangerous rival's girl, and must become a competitor in the street racing's drifting scene. The story follows American "teenager" Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) whose reckless driving lands him prison time, but to avoid this he moves in with his father in Tokyo. Tokyo Drift is possibly my favourite of the series, or at least its up there with the first film it only has a few problems that can be swept under the "It's Fast and the Furious, what do you expect" carpet. “Need for Speed” hits theaters on March 14.Branching away from any original cast members of the first two films, thankfully, Tokyo Drift provides a refreshingly new look to the franchise. And this guy is in it (points to Mescudi). Everything that happened on the screen actually happened, and there is a great story behind it all that I think people will be very surprised with and have a lot of fun with. PAUL: It’s just a fun, crazy, wild, real ride. With film I always gravitated towards the smaller, low budget independent films and maybe that’s because those were the only people who would have me, but I started literally the day after the final day of shooting. I’ve never really been a part of a huge action film before. I’m still growing.īeing a part of “Breaking Bad,” I was lucky it was kind of just a fluid, easy transition into film, and I’ve been doing film and TV for a very long time. PAUL: And how phenomenal was he? He’s such a natural and just so fun to watch and so fun to be around, but same thing with me: Still lots of growing. I’m glad people liked the film and some of the stuff I did. It was all a learning experience and I’m still growing. Can’t say it wasn’t intimidating being in a scene with this guy. Like every day on set, when I’m in a scene with Aaron, I’m learning. MESCUDI: Aaron’s been doing this for way longer than me, so I’m still learning, working with people that I’m learning from. When you have Scott Waugh in your face, it’s like, “Yo bro, you doing it for real bro.” I was like, “What?” But I was actually asking Scott (for the sequel) to get me in a car for just a second, to let me drive down the block to the store or something. That was the thing, was like, “I need you to learn how to drive,” so there were a lot of long days spent on the track. Driving off the cliff and being caught by helicopter-that was not me. Jumping over the lanes of traffic-that was not me. We had the best stuntmen in the world doing the driving. I don’t want to lie to the audience I want the audience to know that you’re actually the one driving,” and with that said I drove a lot but I definitely didn’t do all of my driving. But that was the thing: was like, “If you want to do this movie, I’m going to need you to be in the driver seat. PAUL: I have been on tracks before it was just like one day on the track, two days on the track-but nothing like this. On learning how to drive and fly for the film, and doing stunts Immediately people aren’t going to be like, “race car film, another race car film.” MESCUDI: When people see it, they won’t make that comparison. That’s why all of these stunts were all practical. Our director, his whole pitch to me when I first talked to him was he wanted to do a throwback to the classic films that really kind of started this sort of genre, such as “Bullet,” “Vanishing Point,” “The Blues Brothers,” “Smokey and the Bandit,”-all of those great, classic car movies where they actually did do all of the driving. “The Fast and the Furious” didn’t start the genre, nor will they end the genre. PAUL: “Fast and the Furious” and this film are just completely different movies. On being compared to the “The Fast and the Furious” film franchise It was nothing but night shoots and we just left as many skid marks as we could. The first part of Georgia was in Macon, Ga., and we all just kind of fell in love with that small town vibe-loved the love of jazz and blues there and we just took over that town. A majority of the time was spent in Georgia. PAUL: We were fortunate enough to shoot across the entire country. Aaron Paul and Scott Mescudi star in ‘Need For Speed’ The Signal sat down with Paul and Mescudi to talk about their roles in the film. Filled with a strong story that pays homage to the classic and authentic American car culture, Waugh delivers a movie that he describes as a “human, heartfelt story in a crazy, action world.” Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) stars in director Scott Waugh’s latest film “Need for Speed.” Paul’s character Tobey Marshall is a blue-collar auto shop owner and underground car racer falsely sentenced to prison and looking to clear his name no matter the cost.Scott Mescudi (rapper Kid Cudi), plays Benny the Army Reserve pilot in the film.īased off the popular car racing video game of the same name, “Need for Speed” is more than just another action-packed car film. |
